Sanskrit

Sanskrit (Samskrutam) is one of the oldest languages in the world. It is also called Devavani, GirvanaVani and Sukhavani. It is a very melifulous language as it is very pleasant to hear. It is the mother language to all Indian languages. All scriptures of ancient India were transmitted in this language from one generation to another. It is verily referred to as “World Language” by great scholars across the world. Contrary to common misperception, it is a simple language. During the time periods of Ramayana and Mahabharata, Sanskrit was the lingua franca of the country. It is a very valuable treasure for the world. The four Vedas, and the Upanishads are all available to us in their original form in Sanskrit language. The Vedas and Upanishads are being learnt in various countries in the original Sanskrit.
Such is the greatness of this language. Manusmriti and Yagnavalkya Smriti are two of the many important works in Sanskrit. The learning of Vedas, along with the Shadangas are all done in Sanskrit. Of the six branches that comprise Shadangas, Vyakaranam (Grammar) and Kalpasutras are taught in the Vedapathashala.
From a worldly perspective, texts related to dance, poetry and literature of ancient India in their original form were largely in Sanskrit language. The great world-renowned Sanskrit poets of yester years include: Kalidasa, Bhaaravi and Maagha. In Sanskrit, grammar is very precise and important. Another unique feature of the languate is that for each word, often there are multiple meanings. It is a very rich language in terms of precision and breadth of expression. It is the main language through which we can know of our rich traditions and culture. There are many practical tips of advice on how to lead a good life, which have been handed over to us in the form of Subhashitas (wise sayings) that have been composed in Sanskrit. These works inspire the youth on how to lead meaningful lives.
